This small part of our nails is a delicate and important part of the structure of the nail, which must not be damaged.
The white crescent at the base of the nail is called “lunula” ( “little moon” translated from Latin). Indeed, it is a visible part of the root of the nail, which is quite important for its health.
Should not be damaged, since this entire nail may remain permanently deformed. If damage or injure only the rest of the nail and it falls, lunula remains unchanged and in the place.
According to ancient Indian system of natural and holistic medicine – Ayurveda, lunula represents “agna” and its absence means that you have weak digestion and poor metabolism.
