Coconut oil is one of the most versatile and beneficial natural miracles, and you have probably used it for various uses. It is excellent for the dry skin, frizzy hair, cellulite, teeth whitening, and many more.

Coconut scent and flavor

Coconut oil can be used in cooking and baking, for hair, skin, and body care. You can use both types, virgin and refined coconut oil, as you prefer.

Refined coconut oil is a bit better for cooking, stir- frying, sautéing, and baking, as it has a higher smoke point of 400 degrees. Its neutral flavor is also perfect if you do not like the coconut smell.

Both varieties have the same nutritional profile, meaning that you can choose whichever you like more. They both have 63% medium chain triglycerides, including 50% lauric acid, so the aroma and taste make the main difference.

However, whenever you plan to purchase coconut oil, make sure you look for the following features:

  • Certified organic
  • Verified non-GMO

If you prefer virgin coconut oil, make sure it is cold-pressed, not bleached or deodorized, and produced without hexane.

If you intend to buy refined coconut oil, it should be steam-refined, and treated without harsh chemicals.
