Good news for coffee lovers headed to Starbucks for the 2016 holiday season. The Seattle coffee giant has introduced a set of 13 disposable cups with stylish and festive designs that are bound to cheer up coffee drinkers. The 13 cups are being welcomed not only because they look great and will probably spark a collectible trend but also because they represent a reversal from the previous holiday season.
Starbucks is known to practice political correctness to extremes, but this corporate philosophy proved to be too much for coffee lovers in late 2015. For that particular holiday season, Starbucks eschewed its previous holiday imagery and introduced a plain cup adorned in two shades of red and nothing else. The cups were received with sheer criticism by people who believed that Starbucks had pushed the politically correct envelop too far by eliminating all allusions to Christmas. Gone were the reindeer and the holiday ornaments; Starbucks wanted to play it ultra safe and received a lot of flack for it.
For the 2016 holiday season, Starbucks started very timidly with a forest-green cup that featured a cryptic line drawing of a crowd. The situation later improved with a stylish red cup adorned with a snowflake pattern. Coffee lovers welcomed this red cup only to be surprised by an announcement by Starbucks about the upcoming release of 11 more cups from Veterans Day until the end of the year. Each attractive cup will include a holiday motif such as garlands, Christmas lights, snowy pine trees, and others.
